I just saw an article on slashdot about how New
Royalty Rates Could Kill Internet Radio and I can’t help wondering where people’s heads are. I can’t help myself, I have to say this, “Internet Radio” is a really bad term. If it’s on the Internet, It’s not Radio.
A Radio is a device that transmits and / or receives signals of modulated electromagnetic energy. You can’t do that on the Internet, Period.
Granted, you can transmit audio programs online, podcasters do it all the time, but that’s not radio, it’s internet. Or does that mean watching a video delivered via Internet is “Interenet Television”? Ridiculous how people find the need to mix things up like that.
