HP Renegs on Warranty if You Run Linux

In a move that’s going to leave a LOT of customers (not to mention might-have-been customers!) cold on HP it seems that their warranty will not be honored if you choose to run linux.
Why this is so is a question I haven’t seen answered. I can’t help thinking that when I buy a computer it’s MY business what I run on it and my choice of OS has NOTHING to do with how the hardware does or does not work.

Based on the comments and my own opinion, HP stepped in it big this time.
