Debian Etch Declared ‘Stable’

I just noticed (ok, this is a tad old, but still worth mentioning) that after 22 months of development since ‘Sarge’ was released as Debian GNU/Linus 3.0, Debian has finally declared ‘Etch’ stable and released it as Debian GNU/Linux 4.0.

Trivia question: what do the codenames of Debian GNU/Linux have in common?

Release 3.1 is â€˜sargeâ€™, 3.0 was â€˜woodyâ€™, 2.2 was â€˜potatoâ€™, 2.1 was â€˜slinkâ€™ and 2.0 was â€˜hammâ€™
