RIAA sez they own all royalties for internet radio

got another one in the “Duh” parade. According to an item on slasdot, The RIAA is now saying that THEY own all of the royalties to music played on “internet radio”.
Setting aside the fact that I consider “internet radio” to be a nonsense term, I can’t help thinking that unless they specifically signed away their rights, the royalties should go to the people that actually OWN the music in question… You know… The ARTISTS
I’d ask how dense these people think we are, but then somebody’d probably answer.
