Ok, this one doesn’t make sense to me. Dell is working a deal to sell their machines at wally world and they’ve also been talking about offering some models with Linux pre-installed instead of windows.
Just these two things by themselves should have Dell doing enough better that they shouldn’t need to laying off 8,000 people.

DALLAS AP - Dell Inc. (DELL) (DELL) beat Wall Street predictions in its first-quarter earnings report but said it would eliminate 10 percent of its work force over the next year as part of a broad plan to trim costs and become more competitive with rivals.
