eBay Heading For It’s Next Big Screwup

As if it isn’t big enough, eBay is out to snare more customers in it’s web of auctions and buy-it-now… The thing about eBay is that back around the turn of the century it was a really cool place to buy and sell almost anything.
Unfortunately, success has allowed ebay to get too big for it’s britches. They’ve apparently forgotten their humble beginnings and the millions of little folks that made their success possible. Instead, they crank out ebay express, where it’s true (to a point) that they’ve built in more convienience for the shopper, but it’s also true that the only sellers doing any serious good there anymore are the big ultra-power sellers. Ebay has managed to put the little guy in the closet someplace and made life (and sales!) a lot more difficult for them.
BOSTON (AP) - When Pierre Omidyar founded eBay 12 years ago, he wanted to build the world’s most efficient marketplace. At the very least, he launched the most comprehensive one. Today eBay Inc. (EBAY) is a conglomeration of Web sites where people sell everything from car parts to carp arts. (What den couldn’t use a watercolor of a fish?)
“Oh! Goody!” Ebay’s changing things AGAIN! I wonder what it’s gonna cost the little guy THIS time?
