Well, the next part in the Iphone saga is underway. People are now discovering that when they eventually have to replace the battery in their overpriced Iphone they’re going to be in for a surprize.
It seems that Apple has gone to great lengths to make sure the average user simply cannot change the battery themselves… it’s soldered directly to the circuit.
According to an article I saw about it
Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Hakes said Thursday the company posted the battery replacement details on its Web site last Friday after the product went on sale.
Users would have to submit their iPhone to Apple for battery service. The service will cost users $79, plus $6.95 for shipping, and will take three business days.
Sorry Apple, this isn’t going to cut it. Not by a long shot.
By the way, speaking of the Iphone, I would be remiss if I failed to pass on the news that a bright hacker known as “DVD Jon” has come up with a way to activate the Ipod and WiFi parts of the Iphone. It doesn’t do any good for the Phone functions, but at least you can get part of it working without having to bow before AT&T.
