Once again Micro$oft is proving that they’re biting off more than they can chew in their efforts to spread themselves as thin as they can possibly manage.

Honestly, I don’t see why it’s necessary to expand into every branch of computer related business. Seems to me that they could enjoy much better success if they concentrated all their efforts and resources on a narrower focus.

Anyway, this XBox thing apparently has problems (big surprize ‘eh?) and M$ is going to have to spend a lot of time and money fixing something that has problems because as usual, they rushed it to market before it was fully debugged and ready.

here’s the cute part:

Bach said the company made some manufacturing and production changes that he expects will reduce Xbox 360 hardware lockups, but he declined to identify the problems or say which others might remain. Microsoft said it will record a charge of up to $1.15 billion for its fourth fiscal quarter, which ended June 30, to cover the additional costs associated with the warranty extension.

Don’t do anything user friendly like tell people what problems they might run into…. Who knows, some user might even come up with a fix… no, they’re not going to take a chance of that. I think maybe that instead of something like that they’d rather do anything to keep their secrets, even if it means taking truckloads of defective XBoxes and beating them into range hoods or toaster ovens.
