I guess it had to happen sooner or later. YouTube is planning to add overlay advertising to the first few seconds of videos.
YouTube Videos to Have ‘Overlay’ Ads
NEW YORK (AP) - Video advertising is coming to YouTube, but it won’t be the type common at sites elsewhere. Starting Wednesday, the popular video-sharing site plans to feature semitransparent “overlay” ads at the bottom of selected video clips.

One good question that I haven’t seen addressed yet is Will these overlay adverts affect the downloaded version in any way or are they going to be restricted to the site itself?
