Here’s an interesting bit of trivia slash history. Twenty five years ago Rich Skrenta became the first person to unleash a personal computer virus. All his little bug did was copy itself onto the boot sector of a floppy disk when somebody looked at the directory. Every 50 times it would also print a poem he wrote on the screen. This was back in the day when the Apple ][e was THE machine to have and all the computer magazines had program listings printed in them. Now we’ve come a long way from that humble beginning where kids practically devoured computers while discovering a whole new world. now a lot of those same kids are wearing suits, ties and expensive cufflinks because they’ve gone on to bigger and better things. and then there’s the folks that have made billions trying to stop viruses and related malware.
