Micro$oft Considers Buying Into Facebook

Welcome back!

I just read that Micro$oft is thinking about buying a stake in Facebook. According to what I read, they're liable to put as much as 300 to 500 million dollars into it.

What I'd like to know is, Why is facebook such a big deal? I know, that sounds like a genuine lamer question if ever there was one, but honestly I've looked the thing over and I've yet to see what everybody's so all fired up about it for.

Just what are you supposed to do on facebook anyway? From what I can see the only way it's going to do you any good is if you know or are connected to some person or persons that are already in one or more of it's networks. The site says it's open to anyone but it looks to me like a mostly closed up version of myspace

Someday I'm going to have to take a couple hours and look it over in more detail. For now though, I don't have time.

Microsoft has been working on a new project called ‘Photosynth’ do a google search for it, but it looks really promising. I think this is the reason behind their new investment.

Well they are really behind in that field, so it would be very logical move.
