In case anyone still thinks that Amazon.com is just about books, they have opened their much-anticipated “Amazon MP3″ digital music store and it’s definitely geared to compete with Apple’s Itunes.
The part of this that’s good for consumers is that First, they’re doing this DRM-Free, which means there’s no fussing around with that nonsense, they’re straight up MP3 format files that will play nearly anywhere. They’re also very well stocked, with a reported 2.3 million songs that will be selling from 89 to 99 cents each, with albums going for 5.99 to 9.99.
From the looks of this, Itunes best get their stuff in order or they’re going to get tromped.
