Sour Apples

Welcome back!

Apple has lived up to it's threat and released a software update that breaks iPhones that people have used software hacks to unlock so that they can use them with networks other than AT&T.

As it turns out, the phones still work, but only if you put back the SIM card that ties the phone to AT&T. Honestly though, this is going to be just like people who attack DRM... a company comes up with something to lock stuff down and before long some bright hacker comes along and breaks their shiny new lock and within days the fix is all over the net.

The same thing is going to happen with the iPhones until Apple gets a clue and changes them so that they're not locked to AT&T. There is NO reason why customers can't have the right to use the carrier of their own choosing when they're buying the device. If they were renting it things might be different but that's not the case.
