eBay Becoming MySpace-ified

In an effort to try to get back some of the people that are getting sick of eBay over recent years they’re launching yet another change. The new “Neighborhoods” Feature is supposed to give it a feel similar to popular social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook where users will be encouraged to post photos, product reviews, tips and responses.. making for a more interactive environment than they’ve had before.
The problem that I see with this is that it doesn’t address one of the biggest complaints that I know about ebay… that they’ve screwed things around so badly that it’s nearly impossible for the little guy to make any money selling stuff there and they’ve become a rats nest of bad sellers that will do just about anything to separate you from your money. These sellers don’t really care about feedback because no matter how many bad feedbacks they get, it’s just a tiny drop in the bucket. This is after they get a few thousand positive feedback by holding the buyer’s feedback hostage until the buyer first gives them positive feedback.
Frankly, I don’t have a lot of hope that this latest batch of changes will improve ebay much at all. Of course, they could surprise me.
