MPAA Claims About Piracy Problem Full Of Hot Air

Welcome back!

For a long time now the MPAA has been jumping up and down screaming bloody murder about how the nasty evil pirates are destroying their ability to make a profit. They spend a lot of time and money trying to convince people that we need to have special anti-piracy laws to target whole herds of nasty evil pirates who are illegally copying their movies and costing them tons of money.

Meanwhile, I think theres probably a record number of these folks wearing Royal Oak offshore watches because in spite of the MPAA's claims of how much damage these alleged pirates are doing to their business, THEiR OWN NUMBERS PROVE THEM WRONG!

Piracy isn't nearly the problem they've been screaming about. This report (pdf), shows that box office receipts have reached an all time high ... growing 5.4 percent higher than the 2006 numbers for a monster total of $9.63 billion.

Something is seriously wrong here. It doesn't look like piracy is costing them anything.
