That’s right. This time the rebellion wasn’t insurgents with Iranian supplied weapons & training. Instead, it was a robot. Essentially a high tech bomb disposal / robot that’s been fitted with a 5.56mm M249 machine gun.
The Register quoted Kevin Fahey, US Army program executive officer for ground forces as saying “The gun started moving when it was not intended to move,”
Translation: It started taking aim where it shouldn’t have.
According to reports, there weren’t any human casualties and the robots have been pulled from combat use pending upgrades. You can find a good picture of this potential nightmare in training on Gizmodo. They also report that the combat robot program may have been set back ten to twenty years.
I have to ask, lots of people need to ask, has none of these geniuses ever seen Robocop and the ED-209? Do they not remember what happened with it? How many stories have been written about machines that gain the ability to destroy or enslave their makers.
Don’t tell me they never saw The Matrix.
Wake up, Neo.
