I just read one of those kinda annoying “surveys”. This one showed up on Network World. According to something called “an Accenture survey”, 12% of the people who responded to the survey in the US and UK have connected through an unsecured Wi-Fi hotspot.
Without going into a whole round of the pros and cons of this, there’s really an easy solution for it. The problem is that the “easy” solution involves people actually taking the time to learn how to secure their home and business networks and then taking the time to do it.
The problem is that this sounds good in theory but in reality it’s just not going to happen. Most people are essentially lazy when it comes to the technical and security aspects of computers and networks. They’re not going to bother securing things because they don’t want to take the time to learn a few things and understand how to do something that is actually pretty simple.
