Congress Bickering Over Energy Plan

Welcome back!

The price of crude oil and therefore gasoline are continuing their monstrous rate of increase and Congress is busy arguing their various pet plans for what to do about it. Thing is, While both the Democrats and the Republicans have several options in mind, they're apparently not getting the severity of the situation. This isn't a couple of kids arguing over which is the best acne treatment, it's a very real part of our immediate future they're playing at.

Seems to me that getting a solution from Congress isn't the way to go. Frankly Congress, going along with "Big Oil" all those years is a big part of the reason we're in the mess we are now. It makes a lot more sense to go to the people in the science community for answers. They're going to have a LOT more on the ball with potential answers than any politician is capable of if only because the Politicians don't understand the science needed to solve the problem.

For one part of the solution, we need to stop making biofuels out of food crops. A big part of the reason for the rise in food prices is the increase in production of Ethanol.

The goofy part of the thing is that using corn to make ethanol is, as I understand it, one of the LEAST efficient ways to make it. Better by far to use any of the several other methods to produce it that are actually cheaper and more efficient.

Unfortunately that means politicians have to pull their heads out and do something right for once.

I wouldn't recommend holding your breath while you wait.
