Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Declare Piracy ‘Detrimental to the Public Health, Safety’

That’s right. The Los Angeles county board of supervisors has taken anti-piracy efforts and jacked them up on bodybuilding supplements, creating a monstrosity of a legal situation.
This is going to allow them to close down a property for up to one year for violations of this anti-infringement ordinance and the owner can be hit with a $1,000 fine for each infringement that takes place on site.
When you add to that the penalties that the PRO-IP Act, you’ve got a nice jolly little mess that the goons at the RIAA and MPAA will be able to use to ruin the lives of people they feel like accusing of illegal file sharing and copyright violations.
Frankly, this whole mess needs to be backed off and rethought. Unfortunately it’s probably already too far out of control;
