I remember a time, not all that long ago really, when any mention of a new space mission being launched would get loads of coverage. Everything from all manner of details about the mission to interviews with the astronauts and all sorts of experts that would cover in detail everything that would be done on that mission. There’d be tv coverage and thousands would attend the launch, filling cheap hotels for thirty miles or more.

Now we hear about a launch on the evening news IF there isn’t something else that they consider “more interesting” and it boggles my mind. How can that be? We’re launching spacecraft and building an international space station. Man’s presence in space has been non-stop for probably better than 20 years or more. NASA has even been making noises about a return the the moon.. this time for the purpose of building a permanent base there.

Such a base would be used as a starting point for exploration and colonization of a LOT of lunar territory and eventually other planets such as Mars.

How they can consider that “not interesting enough” is beyond me.
