XAMPP is a free and easy to install Apache web server that allows you to host a website from your own PC (provided you’ve taken care of something like a dyndns name or other way to have a domain name that points to whatever your current IP address is.)
It comes with all of the basic programs you need in order to host a fully functional domain:
- Apache HTTPD 2.2.8 + Openssl 0.9.8g
- MySQL 5.0.51a
- PHP 5.2.5
- PHP 4.4.8
- phpMyAdmin 2.11.4
- FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.25
- Mercury Mail Transport System 4.52
