Disaster! Monitor Needs Replacement
I had a disaster today. I was minding my own business getting organized for some things I was planning to write when all of a sudden with no warning at all my monitor went dark. The hard drive light kept blinking occasionally like it always does and the lights on the ADSL modem indicated that my machine was connected to our lan and moving data back and forth normally.
After doing all the expected “turn it off, wait, turn it back on”, unplug and replug everything to make sure connections were ok I turned the whole system off to let it cool and see if maybe something had overheated. Powering back on everything worked except for the monitor. The green LED that indicates it’s turned on only flickered dimly instead of coming full on.
So now I’m sitting here using a monitor that I had to borrow from another machine. It works but it’s got to go back where I got it. Since I need this system up and running as part of my income, getting a replacement monitor is totally urgent and yes, I’m going to ask for donations because it’s the only way to go right now.
