doPDF is a freeware app that installs itself as a virtual printer. This printer doesn’t use paper, instead it’s output is in PDF form. This lets you turn any printable document into a pdf file just by selecting the doPDF printer.

The resulting PDF file will of course, require Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader in order to read it. Text in the file will be searchable and search engines will index the text in the file if there’s a link to it on a website somewhere

It’s easy as all get out to install, I downloaded and installed it just before writing this post and it didn’t even require a reboot. The installer needs to be run with administrator privileges because it’s installing a device driver but that’s just a matter of right-clicking and choosing “Run As” and entering your admin password.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never been a fan of PDF format because I think they’re WAY bigger than they need to be in most cases and because Adobe owns the format outright but this does have certain advantages and the accounting boys with the business performance management software will be thrilled at how much paper will be saved on trial printouts

but adobe running on a pc takes too much ram and takes time to load. Conventional method is better printing on paper.and pictures in adobe take huge space

First, I agree that Adobe is a memory hog as well as a system resources hog. However when printing multiple test copies, it’s worth it to use a pdf printer like doPDF. Maybe YOU can afford all that ink and the inevitable print head replacements but *I* cannot. Therefore I use the real printer as little as I can get away with and as much as is completely despise PDF format files, I’ll use the things to save paper, ink and print heads when appropriate.

Second, I’m getting bloody tired of people trying to game the comment system. Specifically in your case you used “London Cosmetic Dentist” as your name.

I’ve decided that I have had it and I’m not going to allow stuff like that anymore and have changed your name entry to “Anonymous” and removed the url.

(and now to do a “comment policy” post and make it official)
