Cuil Looks Cool

In spite of the fact that Google, Yahoo, Ask, Microsoft and a dozen or so others pretty much have the search engine market locked up there are still new sites popping up all the time. One of the youngest of these is “Cuil” {pronounced “Cool” }, in Internet terms it’s not even teenage yet.
When you load up www.cuil.com you’re presented with a plain black page with the Cuil logo, a search box, a line of text that tells you Cuil will “Search 121,617,892,992 web pages” and links to their privacy policy and about page.
The results are given in the form of little paragraphs that the visitor can use a link in the lower right corner to view in two or three columns instead of the numbered list that google and others made (in)famous.
It has an interesting autocomplete function that tries to anticipate the search terms you’re typing in. If you see one that better fits what you’re looking for all you need is to click on it and you’re off. There’s several options for refining your search on the results page.
Whats interesting is the number of pages they’re claiming to index, which some suggest is more than google indexes.
I’m going to go so far as to try it out for a while and compare it’s results to other search engines. It could be interesting.
