Cellphones In the Sticks

Contrary to what a lot of people will say, life out here in the sticks is actually pretty good. Everything is on a slower pace and there isn’t nearly as much traffic and pollution as you have in just about any larger city.
There is one downside though, cell phone reception isn’t even nearly half of what it should be. The first time we got a cell phone we found out that there was no signal at our home. We would have needed to get a cell phone repeater with a rooftop antenna in order to make that phone usable.
Of course, at the time we didn’t know about such things and ended up canceling that phone. The one we have now does have a decent signal, though there are still large parts of our area where it just can’t get a signal for squat. That’s where having a mobile repeater in the car would come in handy.
For that matter, what if cars came with mobile repeater systems? (and the gear to make a mobile Wi-Fi / hotspot repeater?) Seems to me that something like that would go a long way to improving connectivity for a LOT of people at a minimal cost.
