Introducing Video Website Reviews

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I've been doing website reviews in one form or another every now and then and this time I've decided to change it up a bit and try something new (well, new for me anyway.). I used CamStudio, a freeware utility I wrote about recently that makes creating screen capture videos a breeze along with Windows Movie Maker and an audio editor to create a variation on the website review.

What I'm trying to do is not only review a site, but give a brief look at it in the process. This will allow me to point out features that I particularly like as well as things that I think detract from a site. This first review features cardhubs.com, a search tool for Credit Cards. It allows visitors to search a large list of credit card offers based on the criteria that is important to their needs.

The site doesn't have an interest in any one card over another, they make their money from advertising, so they can simply present the information about the various card plans and provide tools to help the visitor sort them out. The only real detraction here in my opinion was their use of popup windows instead of displaying information on the page, perhaps in a collapsible div section.

This first video review is only a 1:17 long but if this idea works out I'll probably do longer ones in the future.
