No, HAL Isn't Iron Man
Welcome back!
When I first saw the headline "Robot suit for rent in Japan to help people walk", the first thing that went through my mind was the obvious connection between the words "robotic suit" and Iron Man. Of course the reality didn't connect that way any more than the first mental picture that was inspired by the term "Bluetooth headset"... It was NOT a Motorcycle helmet with a big blue tooth on the front of it... but that's the picture that formed in my mind when I first heard the term.
Anyway... the suit. First off, its not exactly a suit so much as it is a powered leg brace that's computer controlled and assists people with problems walking.
Then there was another mental picture when I saw what they'd named it, HAL. Obviously, the first thought there is the infamous red eye of HAL the computer but that's a whole other subject.
I don't think this thing, while a useful innovation, is going to go very far because it rents for $1500usd a month ... for the one leg version.

I don’t think it will go very far because they named it HAL. That’s just scary.

heh… Hal doesn’t exactly have a “stellar” reputation does he?
