It all started out innocently enough. As Windows users all over will know, once in a while, Windows occasionally gets enough un-dealt with crap built up that it starts to slow down the system and things become sluggish. Be it due to accumulated memory leaks or whatever, when it happens the only solution is to shut down and reboot.

they couldn’t stop an email from an MS exec:
“I believe we are going to be misleading customers with the Capable program. OEMs will say a machine is Capable and customers will believe that it will run all the core Vista features. We must avoid confusion. It is wrong for customers.”

Then there’s the other side of the coin, support bots and phone droids that are good for little more than wasting your time and raising your temper to the boiling point. I’ve spent a serious amount of time over recent days dealing with a collection of them gathered at the Centurytel Internet support desk.

Back in in May of 1990 the world saw the birth of a new operating system that was to define a lot about how we look at computers. The Windows 3.x OS was one of the first widely accepted and used operating system and gave Microsoft it’s push into a leading position in the software world.

I recently wrote about the VM Ware Player and some problems I was having getting the right network settings on it so that the virtual machine could access the real world internet. I’ve finally come up with the solution.

I’m sitting here with an XP machine and just as anyone who has read my stuff before would figure, I’m very interested in checking out Linux with the idea of eventually migrating most, if not all, of my computing activities to the free OS.
