Genetic Science Makes For Dangerous Ideas

You could subtitle this: Jurrasic Park Anyone?
In one of those "life imitates art" situations, there's now a shot, however thin it may be, that somebody with the money to throw at the project could actually arrange for extinct animals to be re-created by engineering DNA from samples of the long dead critters. While I don't think anyone should start shopping for anti-velociraptor self defense gift baskets just yet, we could actually be closer to such an idea than you think.
According to a NYTimes article, scientists have actually reached the point where they say that it'd only cost about ten million dollars to regenerate a live Woolly Mammoth using DNA from prehistoric samples of the creature's hair.
Take this process just a few small steps farther and then sit down and watch all three of the Jurrasic Park movies and tell yourself "they might actually be able to DO this nonsense!"
