Never Pay For Freeware

I ran across a slashdot story about a person who, after being told about how OpenOffice was a great alternative for Microsoft Office and similar commercial packages, went to Google looking for it

WP Remix, Flexibility Is The Heart Of It

WP Remix is the first WordPress theme that I would actually consider paying for. Those that know me can tell you that a statement like that coming from me means a lot. I’m a tried and true cheapskate from way back with no intention to change. I’ve always preferred to do something for free anytime I have the chance. Making the “Buy Now” button at Paypal merchant services is easy enough, I even remembered to input the success url that the customer needs to go to after payment is taken care of.

Jumping The OS Gun

Not long ago I posted about how I’d had it with Windows and the way it’s buggyness cost me a mountain of files and ended up inspiring me to go Microsoft free in a move to Ubuntu linux. I discovered that making a move like that mostly out of anger and frustration, with almost no advance preparation, was not the way I should have migrated from one OS to another.
