Honestly, I think that they’re going overboard and have been for a long time now. Besides which, it’s long past time for them to realize that they’re infinitely better off going after the people who’re ripping off copyrights and making a profit doing so.
Welcome back! That case where University of Maine students are going up against the RIAA is getting interesting. The RIAA submitted another of the ex parte (“ex parte” is legalese for “without notice”) discovery orders that they’re famous for. This time however the judge refused to go along with it saying:
I see no reason [...]
Powered by Max Banner Ads Cornell University has come up with an Azureus Plugin called “Cubit” that I think is one of the first such that will give the ability for it to handle “decentralized approximate keyword search capabilities”.
This means that Azureus users would be able to search torrents currently available on the network. This [...]
Powered by Max Banner Ads I’m behind on my Slashdot reading again. I just now came across the article about NBC turing on the broadcast flag on certain programs. By doing this, then programs like Windows Media Player and other software (and hardware!) that honor this flag which means it is no longer [...]

They spend a lot of time and money trying to convince people that we need to have special anti-piracy laws [...]
Powered by Max Banner Ads That’s right… and it’s bloody well about time too. This comes from a slashdot story a couple of days ago. A judge in Maine has expressed the opinion that:
Arista v. Does 1-27 that the record companies and/or
their lawyers should be fined under Rule 11 of the Federal Rules, for
misrepresenting [...]
Powered by Max Banner Ads This is hilarious. The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), an organization that has become infamous for suing grandmothers and seven year old kids in their insane quest to control all music downloads and file sharing, was attacked Sunday by hackers that took advantage of an SQL vulnerability and apparently [...]
