Homemade Fusion Reactors

There’s actually a small but growing group of people, amateur scientists, that are working on building fusion reactors. Quite a few of them have actually built working fusion reactors in their basements and attic labs.

Man Shoots Video of Shuttle Launch From Airliner

I’ve been watching rockets being launched from Kennedy Space Center since the early days of project Apollo. I watched every bit of the Apollo 13 coverage that I could (after school anyway). I watched Apollo-Soyuz test mission and the skylab launch and the live coverage of it’s subsequent trouble laden deployment.

HP Shipping Department Personal Prove Humans Can Live Without Brains

A new record has just been established by HP and while this particular record has only been around long enough to soil it’s crib bedding a bit, I’m already wondering if perhaps it’s going to be broken soon.

25 Ways To Get Fired

 Powered by Max Banner Ads
There’s a post up on TechCult listing what it’s calling “The 25 Best High-Tech Pranks“. While I have to admit that there’s several things on that list that sound like cool ways to out-prank the office clown or nail the guy that’s always annoying the snot out of you. [...]

Flashback

Troubleshooting the monitor problems I had today got me into a kind of “digital nostalgia” frame of mind. Specifically I’m thinking about the differences between today’s computers and the machine’s I started out on.
Just touching on one aspect there is still a massive difference. Take memory as an example. [...]

Fun With Vikings

 Powered by Max Banner Ads
I got thinking about our viking friends from the previous entry and it occurred to me that it could easily be the premise for a movie. Yeah, I know, it’s been done before with different people instead of Vikings but it still has potential for some serious fun.
I can just [...]

The Secret History of Star Wars

 Powered by Max Banner Ads
The Secret History of Star Wars is an interesting site I just ran into where you can download a 524 page ebook that goes into a lot of detail covering the inside stories of all things Star Wars. It doesn’t stay strictly with the official LucasFilm version of things, instead [...]

New Monitor Has 180 Degree Field Of View

 Powered by Max Banner Ads
There’s a new monitor out that is promising to make possible a 180 degree field of view. What’s cool about this (aside from the obvious applications to games) is the fact that it’s not going to nuke your checking account to get one. They’re talking about a price somewhere [...]

SpyWare: Camcorder pen

 Powered by Max Banner Ads
Here’s something that looks like it fell right out of a James Bond movie. It’s a “Secret Agent Pen Camcorder”. That’s right. A pen that contains a video and an audio pickup. It records Mpeg4 video and sound in an .avi container on 1GB of flash memory [...]

Stephen Hawking Says Alien Life Is Probably Primitive

 Powered by Max Banner Ads
It’s one of those ideas that makes you think. If *WE* are the high end of intelligent life in the universe then the universe could well be in serious trouble. Stephen Hawking expressed the idea during a lecture at George Washington University recently.
The thought that we could someday encounter [...]
